Nearest Green was the first known African-American Master Distiller. Affectionately nicknamed Uncle Nearest by his friends and family in Lynchburg, Tenn., Nearest is credited with helping perfect the globally recognized Lincoln County Process, which is the only thing that distinguishes Kentucky Bourbon from Tennessee Whiskey (other than geography). This unique filtering of bourbon through sugar maple charcoal was named after the county where Nearest lived and made whiskey.

Barmen is an expert blend of straight bourbons, bottled at 92 proof, with a bold, yet smooth profile that is as flavorful straight as it is on the rocks. Caramel, vanilla and toffee are amplified with flavors of grilled peach, raisin and apple. Traces of coffee and dark chocolate interplay with light, sweet dill and mint, fusing with lingering cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg on the end.

This was a lofty experiment that worked. The results of this 100% rye mash bill, matured in used Uncle Nearest barrels before being bottled at 100 proof, keeps with our tradition of creating some of the most awarded whiskeys in the world.
