When Liam Slattery opened his pub in Delmar in 2015, his goal was to provide an authentic Irish experience like he had growing up on the Emerald Isle. Delicious food, great-tasting beer, and traditional Irish music were all part of his vision. And like his favorite Irish pubs back home, O’Slattery’s has become a place where its loyal customers can enjoy great conversations too. As Liam puts it, “On a Friday, you’ll hear everything from dinner conversation to something you might hear in a confessional!”

DDC recently caught up with Liam and his team to find out what’s new at O’Slattery’s Irish Restaurant and Pub in Delmar.

What’s new at O’Slattery’s?

“We’re launching new seasonal food and cocktail menus this month, and we’re going to be offering whiskey flights behind the bar featuring Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey,” said bar manager Mike Mulhall. DDC recently installed a fountain soft drink system at O’Slattery’s and Coke fountain soda will be served exclusively.

What’s made O’Slattery’s so successful over the years?

“We have a phenomenal staff working here and an incredible community of people around town,” Liam said. “During the pandemic shutdowns, when people thought businesses like ours weren’t going to make it, our community supported us by ordering takeout, when we really didn’t do much takeout before. On our end, we aim to give our customers the traditional Irish food and beer they love with some conversation they will enjoy. You can go anywhere for a burger and beer, but people come here to be treated like family.”

What can we expect for St. Paddy’s Day?

On the Saturday before St. Pat’s, O’Slattery’s will air the Ireland vs. Scotland Six Nations Championship rugby game, followed by live Irish music at night (a tribute to Rory Gallagher, the popular Irish guitarist who was popular in the 60s and 70s). Of course, the Guinness will be flowing all weekend, and you can stop by for a beer and an amazing corned beef and cabbage dinner. Sunday or not, if it’s St. Patrick’s Day, O’Slattery’s will be celebrating!
