About History

DeCrescente Distributing Company (DDC) has a long-standing history that began in Mechanicville, NY, where their headquarters still proudly stand today. Angelo DeCrescente started the business in 1948, operating from his home with few brands to sell and only one truck for deliveries.

Angelo’s son Carmine Sr. was the first sales person in the company at a time when everyone had to perform numerous roles as in any startup business. It was through hard work, relationship building and a passion to succeed that Angelo and Carmine established DDC as a viable business. Carmine became president of the company in 1973, and with his wife Mary by his side, DDC surpassed their first milestone in 1987, distributing more than one million cases that year.

Family pride and heritage continued in 1979 as Carmine’s son C.J. DeCrescente Jr. entered the business. C.J. worked for 9 years in various positions as truck driver, merchandiser, sales representative, and supervisor, and in 1988 earned the position of General Manager. He would later be appointed president of the company in 1997. C.J.’s active leadership style, progressive business approach and support of innovative technology has led the company to become one of the most proficient beer and soda distributors in the Northeast.

The heritage of DDC has expanded as well, forging into the fourth generation as C.J.’s two sons have assumed integral positions in the company. In 2005 Matthew joined the company as IT Director. Shortly thereafter, Carmine III joined the company and today serves as Vice President of Distributor Services.

What all started with one man and one truck has emerged as an industry leader. Today, DDC operates in over 300,000 square feet of warehouse and offices. It employs more than 375 loyal and hardworking people who contribute in helping the company to sell and deliver more than ten million cases of beverage products annually (Beer, Soft Drink, Wine & Spirits) to more than 3,000 customers in 11 counties spanning 7,500 square miles.

In terms of employee satisfaction, customer service, marketing and innovative ventures, our reputation is supported by the awards and honors we have received. Most notably, DDC is proud to have been named one of New York State’s Best Places to Work in 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014. The award ranks employee satisfaction and engagement, workplace practices and policies by Best Companies Group, an independent firm that identifies and distinguishes places of employment in workplace excellence. DDC has also been recognized locally by The Albany Business Review as one of the Capital District’s Best Places to Work in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013.
