Our employee-funded DDC Scholarship Fund has recently surpassed a total of $500,000 in scholarships given since the program began in 1995!

For the spring semester, we donated $13,000 in financial assistance to 26 children of DDC employees, who are excelling at school and are the next generation of leaders!

The $500,000 milestone is an important one that showcases the willingness of DDC employees to give back to their peers, said DDC Vice President Carmine DeCrescente III.

“The continued growth of this program is a testament to the character of the people we employ here at DDC,” DeCrescente said. “Many of the employees who contribute to the program do not have college-age children, yet they want to give back to help those who do.”

Over the years, the scholarship fund has transitioned from company-funded to now being 100 percent funded by employees through voluntary payroll deductions. Currently, about 160 DDC employees contribute to the fund.

“With the current cost of tuition these days, this benefit comes in real handy alleviating the burden of supplying books and other class necessities,” said DDC Director of On-Premise Beer Sales Steve Rychcik. “These scholarships are especially impactful in January, right after the holidays!”

Candidates can apply for the award every semester they attend college, but they must meet certain eligibility criteria, including attending school full-time and meeting GPA requirements.

The $13,000 allocation is the second of two awards that were granted for the 2023-24 academic year, with the next rollout coming ahead of the fall 2024 semester.
